Home-start East Lothian

In line with funding and good practice we have improved the way we record for our families to include the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators.

As a referrer your role will be to indicate, on the referral form, any areas you have concerns by ticking in the relevant columns. When we conduct the initial visit we will then do an assessment, which we will review during the time the family is being supported.

We hope this will not entail any more work for you as busy professionals but will allow us all to work with the family in  a very joined up way.

Please feel free to pass the new forms on to colleagues I have missed.

We are in the exciting position of currently training 10 new volunteers so please think about the project when working with families, we are accepting new referrals at this time.

Breastfeeding Groups in Lothian

All expectant and breastfeeding mums are welcome to come along to these friendly, relaxed groups to share the breastfeeding experience and learn from other mums and breast-feeding trained health care staff. Teas and coffees may be provided or be available to purchase.

We update this list frequently, but it’s a good idea to ring the contact number or check with your midwife or health visitor or on the NHS Lothian internet before coming along for the first time, just in case there has been a recent change. You can download a breastfeeding group location map at www.feedgoodfactor.org.uk

Peer support is available in some areas of Lothian. Ask your midwife or health visitor what is available in your area.
