PrintWe know that getting it right for children and  young people, families and carers, from the start, ensures that young children are healthy, happy and ready to succeed in life.  To a very large extent, children’s life chances, depend on the quality of experience they have in their first years; the secure and reliable attachments they have with parents and other adults important to them; the relationships they build with other children and within their families and communities; the quality of care they are given by parents and other carers; the richness of the learning opportunities they have; and the support and services which children, parents, families and carers can rely on.

’Support from the Start’ is about ensuring services and communities in East Lothian are doing all that can be done to improve health and well being in the early years of life for all children.

We want to find ways of working together and supporting each other to achieve our priorities;-

  • Healthy and happy families
  • Involve families in shaping services
  • Help children be ready to learn and achieve through play
  • Families have access to child care experiences
  • Good opportunities for play in the community
  • Families on low incomes can access opportunities
  • Children are safe in their community

  1. I really enjoyed reading your words, they are quite inspiring. That said, I have been asked to write a small article on Whitecraig for East Lothian Life and I need to meet someone who can help with a background to the village. Are you able to help or do you know someone who can, I would appreciate any help you can offer.

    Best reagards,

  2. Good morning my name is Susan Third and I work with Smart Play Network a Scottish organisation that supports toy libraries, play services, free play and lose parts play throughout the country. I have been updating our membership database and would like to ask you if we can add Support from the Start. By being added to our database you become an associate member (which is free) with SPN and I hope you will find that helpful and interesting.
Please have a look at our website (it is being re-vamped at the moment but will be finished very soon) http://www.smartplaynetwork.org/ and you can like us on Facebook to see who we are and what we do.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries, I look forward to keeping up to date with your news too.
    Thank you for your time.
Kind regards Susan Third Administrator Smart Play Network
