Congratulations go to Amanda, Remy, Lara, Elise, Abby and Megan our girls 5 a side football team. The P6 and P7 girls won the Lothian and Borders Police tournament on Sunday 10th June. The girls played against other teams from both East and Mid-Lothian and then faced Lasswade in the final. The team, coached by Val McLaren and her son Fraser, won the final 2-0 and were delighted to receive individual trophies and a large cup for the Burgh’s rapidly filling trophy cabinet!
Congratulations to Michael and Emliy, both P6a, who won the Little and Large cooking competition on 7th June at Knox Academy, Haddington. On the 30th May the children competed in the first round and made a healthy pizza and fruit kebabs. The food was judged by the management team at Knox on taste and presentation. Both Michael and Emily were delighted to win and go through to the next round. We returned to Knox on the 7th June where Michael and Emily chose to make Chinese vegetable stir-fry and a fruit pizza. This time the teams were judged by Sheena Richardson, the Lord Provost and Joyce Marlowe, Head of School Dinners. The judges commented on their preparation, safety, presentation but most of all on their food. The children worked very hard with their fourth year student Kirsty and were delighted when the results were announced and they were presented with a large trophy.
