At our BIG Circle we launched National Smile Month with very special smiles and lots of fun! We enjoyed some drama and brushed to the sounds of ‘When You’re Smiling’…and ‘This is the Way We Brush Our Teeth!’ We are currently working together with Amy Joss from Special Smiles (Action for Sick Children Scotland) to explore:
- dental care
- visiting the dentist
- healthy drinks and snacks
We have a whole school inclusive ‘Smile Centre’ for lots of exploration and learning! We have fantastic resources and play packs to share at home with toys, games, books and lots of information. Please get in touch if you would like to borrow a play pack.
Just like us- keep brushing and smiling!

Danny and his family kindly put together a beautiful Easter Hamper which has raised £255.52 for Hub funds. This will go towards the Family Day at the Yard which this year will be on Sunday 8th June.
and the winner is Katie Neilson from P5. Enjoy!
We invited our parents and P6 buddies to our ceilidh on Friday 31 January. We put on our dancing shoes and tartan sashes and had a great time performing the Gay Gordons, Mrs Burrell’s Jig and the Meadowpark Reel. Thank you to Hayden Anderson who provided the music. As part of our Scottish theme we have been listening and dancing to different types of Scottish music. Look out for more news about our Scottish Journey.

We had a surprise visit today from David McCandlish from the Dunbar and District Motorcycle Club. His club organise a special Christmas toy drop –off point at ASDA in Dunbar and they have kindly donated a number of toys to the Hub including a very large doll’s house which has been a great hit. A huge thank you to all the customers at Dunbar who donated gifts.
We raised £70 on Friday for Children in Need with our ‘spotty’ dress down day, disco at big circle and a spotty trail outside at gym time.
Thank you to everyone who donated. Have a look at our photos below.

We all enjoyed the annual Kids Out Day at the Jack Kane Centre in June. There was so much to do – rides in the police van, trying on the fireman’s outfit, face painting, bouncy castles, balloon art, story telling and dancing. A huge thank you to Tranent Rotary who sponsored our visit and helped us through out the day.

We hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and all the pupils are looking forward to returning to school on Tuesday 8 January. All three classes will focus on wintry weather for the first two weeks then Jouneys and Transport will provide a context for all our learning.
The next parent’s coffee morning is on Friday 18th January 10.00-11.00 a.m.
We will be looking for volunteers to work on a Sensory story bag as well as practicing some signs. Look forward to seeing you.
The Hub are holding their Christmas Event in Tranent Parish Church on Monday 10 December at 1.45. We hope you are able to join us for our version of the Nativity.
We have been busy learning all about India as an Olympic country. We have been on an Indian Journey around The Hub visiting a different market stall in each classroom. We were transported between each stall by Rickshaw or Magic Carpet and when we got there there were exotic fruits to taste, music to listen to, instruments to play and food to eat!
We decided that a visit to the local Indian restaurant in Tranent would be a fitting end to our India topic! Mr Ali was very generous and prepared a grand feast for us to taste lots of different Indian dishes.
He also allowed us into the kitchen to see curries and poppadoms being made. We had great fun! Have a look at the photos below to see what we got up to!
