Fourth Grade learned about the importance of St Andrews and they celebrated the day by inviting their parents into class and reciting the Scottish themed poems they had written, as well as also sharing what they had learned about these topics. They also tried Irn Bru and had shortbread, which were very popular.
We celebrated it early because the school is closed over Thanksgiving and we would not have been able to celebrate on the actual day.

The 4th Grade teachers had a big surprise this week on Tuesday when the whole school were told to come to the gym hall for a surprise meeting?
When we all got there, the whole school erupted into wild cheering when three players from the North Carolina Panthers (NFL American Football) walked in alongwith the team mascot Sir Purr. They are the local team and have a big fan base in the area.
The reason they were there was to support the award of a cheque to 4th grade for a technology initiative in the classroom. The cheque is a Bright Ideas grant from Union Power Cooperative and we had no idea that it had been awarded to our school.
It was all very exciting and a big surprise for us all! Learn more about the Panthers by clicking below:
In 4th Grade we have just completed a Poetry unit in reading and writing and as part of this we wrote poems with a Scottish theme to show our learning about Scotland. We also used the poetic forms and techniques we learned about in class too.
We hope you enjoy them and please let us know what you think.
Hello to all staff and pupils at Law Primary school. Mrs Macniven and her new fourth grade class are back in school and the first semester is well underway.
This year all pupils in the class have their own netbook and will be using them to keep in touch with you all and they will be sharing their lives and their learning with you here.
Looking forward to keeping in touch with you…..
Fourth Grade are learning about Animal Adaptions as part of their Science project. They have been using the website SwitcherooZoo to research really unusual animals with a focus on how they are adapted to their habitats.
They also created fictional creatures on the website, selecting elements of the bodies of four different creatures, gave them appropriate names and wrote poems about them.
Sunday May 12th was Mothering Sunday here in the USA and we decided to bring a UK element to the special occasion. We decorated cards and photo frames in the theme of “Tea for Two”. The children were very proud of their hard work.
On Monday 29th of April, Mrs Macniven and her 4th grade class were invited to attend the annual International event at the local High School. The pupils dressed in tartan and performed the Dashing White sergeant every half an hour throughout the evening. Mr and Mrs Macniven also had a table sharing lots of information about Scotland. There were 29 countries represented on the night.Bazaar MAP FINAL
On Thursday May 2nd the whole of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, 21 classes had their annual Field day. Completely different from our Sports Day. There were 20 different events, many of them involved water and getting very wet and we all rotated around every event all day. it was great fun but the weather did let us down.
Temperatures are normally in the 90s in May but we have a freak weather system around at the moment with lots of rain and temperatures in the mid 60s, so there were quite a lot of cold children on the day. The weather did not spoil the fun factor though.
