Getting around East Lothian
Community and supported transport – is there a better way?
Transport and the ability to get around impacts on everyone in East Lothian. Addressing this issue can
be challenging as the majority of public transport in the area is commercial,
and outwith the control of East Lothian Community Planning Partnership.
However, the Council does subsidise some bus services, and the NHS and the
voluntary sector also provide many vital transport services in our
communities.
Our Plan for the Future of EastLothian sets out what the Community Planning Partnership wants to
achieve for our county in the future. This includes having well connected
communities with sustainable forms of transport.
The Community Planning Partnership is holding a conference to raise awareness of the range of
community and supported transport currently available in East Lothian. It
is open to everyone, including providers and users of community and supported
transport, as well as business and services providers whose clients use these
services.
The conference will be held on Saturday 3 March 2012 in the Town House, Haddington (9.30am for a 10am
start, finishing 12.30pm). Refreshment and crèche available.
Booking is essential. The programme is available at: www.eastlothiancommunityplanning.org.uk
