Friday 22nd December End of Term Christmas Assembly at 11.00 a.m. Doors will open at 10.30 a.m.  All are welcome.


Our brass players will be performing at this assembly.  Can these children please remember to bring along their instruments.

National Youth Choir of Scotland “Bookings for the National Youth Choir of Scotland Singing groups are now being taken. P3 children will have had or will be having a taster session in school. Reply slips due into school today.   If you have not returned the slip to order your child a Christmas lunch and wish to do so please send into school as soon as possible.

Weekly Information w/c 24 November 2017

Monday 27th November 8.45 a.m. P7 pupils to Risk Factory (we would be grateful if your child could be at school for 8.35 a.m. that morning.   Pupils should wear school uniform.  Please provide your child with a snack, drink and a packed lunch.


Monday 27th November (P6 Parents) Cluster Small School Camp 27th August – 31st August.   Information meeting at East Linton Primary School at 6.30 p.m..


Tuesday 28th November  


4.00- 5.00 Football match at Hallhill 3G


Wednesday 29th November 9.20 a.m. P3/4 to Cluster Football Festival at Hallhill.  Outdoor PE kit; trainers, warm waterproof coat (pupils should come to school wearing their outdoor PE kit).  Please provide your child with a drink and snack. Back in school for lunch.


Saturday 2nd December Parent Council Christmas Fayre

Saturday 2nd December 10.00 – 12.00.


“West Barns Parent Council is now working on our main fundraiser for this school term – the Annual Christmas Fayre. We are fundraising to purchase new gym equipment for the sports hall & hope to raise in the region of £1,000.


You may have noticed that there is a gift wrapped box in reception & we are looking donations to the hampers.  The hampers are arranged around several key themes:

Letter sent home to order a Christmas lunch for your child.  If you wish to order a lunch please complete form and sent into school by Friday 1st December please.   No payment required for pupils in P1-P3 or pupils on free school meals.

Football Festival at Hallhill (3G)at 4-5.   Pupils taking part to arrive at Hallhill for 3.50 please.


Wednesday 11th October P5 having Club Golf Session during PE.


3.30 After School Running Club


Thursday 12th October For the attention of P6/7 parents:  further to Mrs Whiteley-McPhee’s letter the pupils will be cooking on Thursday morning (not afternoon as previously advised).  If any parents would like to help please let us know.


Friday 13th October 10.30 Harvest Assembly led by Rev. Neil Watson.  This year we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food in support of the Dunbar Food Bank.  Everyone welcome to attend our Assembly.

After the Assembly please join us for a Harvest Lunch prepared by our Primary 6/7 pupils in conjunction with the Parent Council and The Ridge.


School closes for October break.

Nut Allergy As we have pupils in school with nut allergies we could be grateful if your child does not bring any nut products to school.   We must be a “nut free school”.  We would appreciate your co-operation with this.

Community Information


Dunbar Science Club: Denny and the T team Fight Cancer!


” Come to Dunbar Science Club and meet ‘Denny and the T team’. They are part of our own body’s AMAZING IMMUNOLOGY and they are an army of cells that protects us from the dangers all around us. This army can even fight the cells that cause cancer! Take part in helping Denny and the T team Fight Cancer cells and make a comic story about what happens and hear about what scientists are doing to help make the battle more successful.

Workshop provided by Edinburgh University’s MRC Centre for Inflammation Research “
