Register your RIGHT blether voting centre and party now

This is a message from Tam Baillie, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People, who hosted a recent “a RIGHT Blether” national Glow Meet at Campie Primary School.

A Right Blether: What's important to you?

With November rapidly approaching, it’s almost time for the RIGHT blether vote, when children and young people from across Scotland have the chance to tell me what they think are the most important issues that I should work on to improve their lives.

Ballot box

Can you run a RIGHT blether voting centre?

One of the most important parts of the consultation is making sure that as many children and young people as possible are able to cast their votes in November. You can help make this possible by setting up a RIGHT blether voting centre in your school, youth club, or other organisation. Your voting centre can be open for a day, a week or for the whole month of November. You can also help children and young people vote online.

It’s really easy to be a voting centre and we will help you by sending you a support pack with ballot boxes, voting cards, posters and other materials to make it a fantastic event –  have a look at the Voting Centre Guidelines at
and instructions on how to vote and count the results at

21st Birthday Cake
Are you celebrating the 21st birthday of the UNCRC?

November 20th 2010 is the 21st Birthday of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). To mark this special birthday I am asking you to host a special UNCRC celebration event or party. We have party packs and ideas to send you – and it might be great to do a voting session and celebration event at the same time.

Let us know!

If you’re going to run a voting centre and/or UNCRC birthday party, let us know by downloading and filling in the form at (click on this link and then select “Save” in the pop-up window)
and returning it by email to or by post to Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People, 85 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AU.

Once we have your details we’ll send everything you need to run a voting centre or your party pack to help you celebrate the UNCRC birthday.

Please return your completed form by Wednesday 20th October.

Thanks again for all your support of a RIGHT blether – I’m very much looking forward to seeing the results of voting sessions and parties across the country. Please do pass this information on to anyone else you think would be interested in getting involved.
