COSLA, OCEAN YOUTH TRUST SCOTLAND & YOUNG SCOT: TALL SHIPS PROJECT

The Tall Ships Races are coming to Scotland in July 2011 and they’re looking for two young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to be selected from each Local Authority to take part in the races.

The races consist of four legs and include travel to the Republic of Ireland, Shetland, Norway and Sweden. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to take part and participate in an exciting and high profile event which will provide them with valuable skills and life experience.

The organisers are seeking to ensure that this experience offers personal and social development of the young people taking part through building self confidence, team building, responsibility and respect and the ability to learn from experience. They are therefore hoping that we can secure places for young people who are less likely to have access to such opportunities for further learning, travel and wider social networks with a view to this enhancing future employability skills.
