ZooBooKoo School’s Competition

ZooBooKoo is a small family business designing games and we have launched a schools’ competition to give something back to the teaching community. Our son is dyslexic and has been supported by many teachers over the years through his journey through the curriculum. This is a great opportunity for primary schools to get involved with a competition that is for the whole class to write a story together, with even the most reluctant of story-tellers involved. Teachers can incorporate literacy learning with lots of fun. We based the competition on our story-telling card game as some teacher friends of ours have said how successful the game has been in class.

I have summarized the competition for you here:
Registration is now open for the National Schools Storyonics Competition for P6 & P7. There are over £10,000 worth of prizes including 500 sets of ‘Storyonics for PC/Whiteboard’ worth £19.99 for 500 lucky participating schools to be won in the prize draw. First prize for the winning class is £1,000 worth of educational toys and games with second and third prizes of £500 and £250 respectively. At the beginning of September participating schools will receive 12 slides each with four images. The class selects one image from each slide and creates a story for submission before the half term break. This is a great opportunity for primary schools throughout the UK to get involved with a fun competition that is for the whole class writing a story together, with even the most reluctant of story-tellers involved. It is also a wonderful opportunity to encourage imagination and creativity while incorporating curriculum literacy skills in a fun way. The winning schools will be notified in December 2011. The competition is being supported by the Communication Trust and Volunteer Reading Help charities. It takes a minute to register – a minute that will bring hours of fun and learning to the classroom.
