A Surprise Visitor

This week Mrs Banks, our Equity and Excellence Lead read us a story through Google Meet. It was very good to see her (and her dog, Harley) and we can’t wait until she can visit the nursery soon.

Comparing sizes and amounts

Continuing to use comparative language

full /empty, long / short, big/ small, tall/ small, heavier / lighter

Keeping myself Safe

This week we have explored keeping ourselves safe.

We visited the school playground where there were other children were playing at different areas. We spoke about how we would keep ourselves safe by showing good listening “Listening to the teacher” and wearing a high-vis vest “No running away or you might get lost”

We were developing our use on the Play on Pedals balance bikes. We explored why it was important to wear a helmet, avoiding objects/ people and how we look after the bikes.

Outdoor Learning

Moving in an active way both indoors and outdoors.

Lots of skills being used during our outdoor obstacle course and visit to the school tyre structure.

Tip-toeing / jumping / throwing / catching / squatting and rising / moving our bodies under/over and through, staying safe by lining up and holding hands.

Growing, Measuring and Numeracy

This week we have been busy planting Sunflower seeds. The children have been chatting about how they have grown them at home as part of our Family Learning. We have explored measurements by building castles with the blocks and foam blocks as well as making beanstalks talking about if they are big/small, long/ short and tall/small.

We were practising counting forwards using beans and number plant pots. The children chose a plant pot and counted out the correct number of beans.
