Learning together to believe and achieve!
This week it was our Sports Day for our Monday / Tuesday cohort. The nursery children worked with the House Captains to choose a theme and activities for their day.
The children chose a Disney theme and we had 3 teams – Tarzan, Toy Story and Dumbo.
Afterwards we had a drink of juice and a treat.
When we arrived at the Village Hub this week, Jane gave us a lovely welcome and we had the opportunity to use the hall to play some football, a game called diggers and builders which was lots of fun, we ate our morning snack and we listened to a story.
This weeks Food Pack was Jambalaya. We sat around the table with our friends to try this, gave our opinion and were able to show some simple food preparation skills and use tools for measure.
It was also lovely to see our Village decorated with flags for the gala. The children wanted to show off their decorated homes.
Over the last 6 weeks some of the children from both Monday / Tuesday and Wednesday / Thursday cohorts have had the opportunity to experience Play on Pedals. Play on Pedals teaches the children about the different parts of a bike, wearing a helmet and the safety benefits of this. The children have taken part in lots of fun games and activities which has helped to develop their balance, steering, braking, gliding and control skills using a balance bike and eventually working towards riding a pedal bike, listening and following simple and more advanced instructions.
We noticed our caterpillars have moved into the next stage of their lifecycle. They have each formed in to a chrysalis.
The children watched as we moved them from their small container in to the large net. We will now wait until they become butterflies.
This week we have explored our local environment. We visited the Village Hub again for our weekly food bag – this time it was Bacon and Egg pie which was yummy. We had the opportunity to visit inside and enjoyed playing some football. We enjoyed the sunny weather this week enjoying picnic snacks and lots of fun in the wooded area at the Banking, in the school grounds and also in the community garden.
