P4/5 Learning for week ending 19th November

Our focus for Health and Wellbeing this week was Anti Bullying Week.   We shared the qualities that are important to us in a good friend and then explored what bullying looks like, sounds like and feels like.  Working in our cooperative teams we then designed posters with a focus on kindness and respectful behaviour choices.

P4/5 Learning for week ending 12th November

This week P4/5 demonstrated outstanding cooperative working on their space topic.  Working in their home teams they all became an expert in one of the four planets we were learning about this week, Mars, Neptune, Saturn or Jupiter.  They then shared as experts what they had learnt with children from the other groups.  All children were successful in their learning and demonstrated this by sharing facts they had learnt about all 4 planets. Amazing teamwork P4/5!

P4/5 Class learning for the week ending 5th of November

This week P4/5 have started to learn about persuasive writing.  They were introduced to rhetorical questions and had the opportunity to choose whether to persuade the reader that children should or should not be allowed to have mobile phones.

We also began our new topic which will be Space this term.  We formed our new cooperative learning teams, found out what we already know and what we would like to learn and then kicked off our topic with this video which the children really enjoyed. https://youtu.be/ZHAqT4hXnMw

P4/5 have also been working on their team building skills with Miss Cran.

We focused on building confidence, working as a team and realising the impact of our actions on the outcome of the task. The children were amazing their comments and encouragement between each other were examples of sound foundations for great teamwork.

P1/2 Developing the Young Workforce – Travel Agency

P1/2 expressed an interest in setting up a Travel Agents/Travel shop in their role play area. Mrs Trewick invited Emma from a local Travel Agency in to speak to the children about her job and she then stayed on and took part in some role play activities such as how to answer queries over the phone and how to fill in holiday booking forms. The children were very engaged and interested and asked lots of great questions. Lots of writing and reading went on as children looked through the brochures Emma brought, filled out class passports and booking forms and completed planning sheets for aeroplane models. Over the course of the morning the children also created an aeroplane within the classroom. A huge thanks to Emma from all of P1/2 for coming and sharing her knowledge of being a Travel Agent with us.
