Remembrance Day

We have been learning about Remembrance Day. We created Poppies from paint and glue, watched a short clip to learn factual information and recall the information.

Each week the children choose their weekly snack. We practice holding a pen/ pencil to create letters, draw images of our snack choice and share our ideas with an adult and our peers.

Today we made Sparklers for snack. We dipped breadsticks in to melted chocolate and covered with rainbow sprinkles.

“They tasted yummy” Harris
“Yes, good” McGregor
“They were chocolate” Darcie
“They had sprinkles on them too” Elliott

We have painted Fireworks. Copying different patterns and beginning to show control and direction using a paintbrush. We spoke about our artwork too and being safe.

“Gloves to stop the fire burning you” Sophie
“We put them in a bucket of water when finished” Willow

The children have been learning about Diwali, the Indian festival of light. We have been learning some factual information about Diwali, making firework pictures, baked Chapati to eat and taste at snack time. We were creative making Diya lamps, Rangoli patterns and drawing Mendhi patterns.

We have had such great fun celebrating Halloween. Throwing pumpkin balls into a cauldron, hoops over witches hats, dressing up, cutting up pumpkins followed by a game of the traditional duck, duck, goose that we improvised to witch, witch, wand. Lots of turn taking.
