Congratulations to our swimming team!

Massive round of applause for our swimmers who brought home the East Lothian Schools Swimming Shield to Windygoul on Friday! The first time a Tranent school has won the competition since 1978, we are very proud of them all.  The team showed great spirit throughout the competition and supported each other during their heats.

A snowy day in Windygoul!

It is very snowy up here at Windygoul today but we are open and the children have been enjoying getting out to play in the snow at break!

If there are any changes to school arrangements due to the snow we will put a notice up here on the blog and will inform you all by text message.

Please ensure that the children come to school wrapped up warm as they will be outside in the fresh air at break and lunchtimes when possible.

We are looking forward to seeing how many snow angels and snowy creations we have in the playground by the end of the day!

Letter from East Lothian Council

Following the letter which was sent out yesterday from East Lothian Council we would like to reassure parents and carers that Windygoul Primary School has had no direct involvement with the content of the letter and we are operating as normal today.

If you want any more information on this matter you can follow the link below to the East Lothian Council website.

http://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/news/article/1276/primary_schools_open_as_normal_on_thursday_20_december

We look forward to welcoming all of our children into school today and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Scooters and Bicycles

There have been a few near misses in the playground with children on bicycles and scooters.  We would ask that all children dismount their bicycles and scooters on entering the playground and that they are not whizzing around on them before or after school.  We would also ask that young children are kept out of the class lines in the morning and that parents stay back from the lines when the bell rings so that pupils have space to come calmly in to school to start their day.

Summer Pamper Evening

A reminder that our Summer Pamper Evening is being held next Wednesday 27th June from 7.00-9.00pm in the GP Rooms.  Tickets £2 available from members of the Parent Council Fundraising Group, please send an envelope with the money in to school with a note of how many tickets, your child’s name and class.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Niamh Yates USA Proton Therapy Trip

Sports Day

A quick reminder that tomorrow (weather permitting) is our Sports Day and you are all welcome to come and watch.

P1-3 Sports will be from 9.00-10.30am

P4-5 Sports will be from 11.00-12.30pm

P6-7 Sports will be from 1.30-3.00pm

The Parent Council will be providing teas and coffees during the sports to warm you up if the sun is not shining!

The children should wear a coloured t-shirt (if possible) to show their House Colour.  (Stewart-Red  Bruce-Yellow  Macgregor-Green  Wallace-Blue)

If the sun is shining (let’s hope it is!) we would ask that the children wear sunscreen as they will be outside for a lengthy period of time.  We would also ask that they bring a water bottle to school to quench their thirst after all of their exercise!

In the case of bad weather we will make a decision as early as possible about cancelling the sports and will notify parents/carers using our Groupcall service.
