Our Primary 7 Athletics team performed very well at the recent Sports Hall Athletics event finishing fourth overall. The whole team performed well in the different events and all contributed points for the team. Our relay teams both did particularly well with both the boys and girls teams finishing in second place. All of the pupils selected were a credit to the school and we are looking forward to the outdoor Athletics event in May.
Last term our pupils were busy playing a wide variety of invasion games including basketball, netball, football and rugby. A lot of time was spent looking at the skills involved in these sports such as passing, movement, communication and finding space. The children were highly motivated and enjoyed the different activities they did.
We focussed on respect and tolerance through these activities and have been pleased with the positive attitude of the children.
We had several teams involved in inter school competitions and had success at the P7 tag rugby competition where our girls team made it to the final and our boys team won the fair play award. We have also had football teams playing in both indoor and outdoor matches.
This term we are concentrating on central net games and sportshall athletics with a focus on co-ordination ,fluency and concentration. Already the children have been getting up to speed with the skills involved in tennis and volleyball and are building towards mini matches.
