P5 and P6 Bikeability is planned over the next few weeks.
Bikeability Scotland is a cycle training scheme designed to give children the skills and confidence they need both to cycle safely on the roads, and to encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood. Bikeability sessions at Yester are provided by trained parent volunteers.
We are delighted that Belhaven Bikes will be in school on the morning of Monday 8th May to check all the children’s bikes.
Please bring bikes to school for this brilliant service as unroadworthy bikes can waste lots of time at beginning of the sessions and may result in your child not being able to participate.
You should have received a letter home regarding the date of your child’s session. Your child should also bring a helmet, gloves and waterproofs on the day.
More information about Bikeability can be found at http://bikeabilityscotland.org/
The next Parent Council meeting is on Monday 8th May at 7pm. Please contact your class rep if you wish anything to be raised. Observers are very welcome.

What does Yester Parent Council do?
The Council exists to:
- Support the school in its work with pupils
- Represent the views of parents and increase their involvement in school activity
- Increase communication between pupils, school, parents and community
- Support the school through fundraising and then works with the school to allocate it to suitable projects.
- Represent Yester in the wider East Lothian Association of Parent Councils with other schools in the area.
Examples of what we do
We provide input, from a parent point of view, on plans and developments within the school. For example; the school transport plan, improvements to the playground or homework policy.

- Yester Summer Fair (18th June) needs YOU! If you’re planting seeds for your garden, please consider planting a few extra (flowers or veggies) to donate to the plant stall. You can bring them along on the day (labeled).
The plant stall at the summer fair is very popular and could potentially raise lots of money for the parent council fund which, in turn, funds LOTS of exciting experiences all the Yester PS kids benefit from. Thank you.
