This training session was planned to help members of parent councils set up and run websites. However other parents may be interested in learning more about setting up sites or getting involved. The session takes place on Thursday 3rd March from 7pm to 8.30pm. It will take place at Knox Academy. Please let Mr Devereux know if you are interested in attending.
Publishing to East Lothian’s eduBuzz school web sites is about as easy as sending an email, and many Parent Councils find them a useful tool for communicating with their Parent Forum. The first step, though, is finding out what’s involved, and whether the sites can help you. This informal session is an opportunity for interested parents and carers to see behind the scenes, learn how new sites are created, and how to contribute simple text posts, add links and photographs, and upload documents such as forms and minutes. An opportunity will be available to discuss additional features, such as design options and “subscribe by email” features, if time permits.
Three of our Primary 7 pupils recently took part in the Haddington Rotary Club’s annual quiz. We went up against King’s Meadow, St Mary’s and Compass School. Sadly we didn’t win, but our team tried hard and managed to get through some tough rounds. This year, for the first time all of the questions were based on the eight areas taught in Curriculum for Excellence.
The date of the P4/5 assembly has had to be changed and will now take place on Monday 7th March. As always, parents and family are welcome.
The P4/5 page has been updated and you are welcome to visit at https://www.edubuzz.org/yester/meet-the-classes-2/primary-45/

Did anyone in your family get a new mobile for Chrstmas? Remember that we’re collecting old mobiles in partnership with St Mary’s Primary. Remember that if we can reach our target of 250 mobiles we will receive a massive amount of IT kit and Childline will get a £500 donation. We don’t need the chargers, and even if the battery has fallen out of the mobile, the keypad is missing or the screen is cracked, we still get half a point!

Yes, the school is open today, Thursday 23rd December. We may not have all our staff here, but we still plan to go ahead with the nursery and P4-7 parties. We are looking forward to seeing all the children who are able to get here.
We apologise for an intermittent service from the website, including the FeedBitz updates over the last day or so. This has been caused by maintenance work being carried out on the Council network by the IT Department.
We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a guid New Year.
The School Inspectors’ report has now been published. You should receive a copy today (Monday) or on Tuesday via pupil post.
The school’s carol service is no longer taking place in Gifford Kirk as the heating in the church has broken down. It will now take place at 2 pm on Wednesday 22nd in the school hall. All are welcome.
If you need to find out if the school buses are running, the fastest way is to check Don Prentice’s website and check out the School Routes page. To go to his site directly, click here.
On Tuesday afternoon the library van will be making its final call of the year to Yester. There are many children who have books signed out. Please could you check to see if you child has a book on loan from the van and, if so, give a reminder to return it.. Thanks.
An adequate solution to our health and safety problem has been found. The school network is now booted up and running again. Relief all round!
