Yester Parent Council 2018/2019 Nominations

Each year, nominated parents/carers form the Parent Council and do their best to represent the views of all of us, work in partnership with the school and keep you all informed of relevant information affecting your child as they learn at Yester Primary.

The Parent Council also raises funds for the School, with a recent focus on reducing the cost of transport for trips and purchasing new books for the library however we can’t do this without the help and support of the wider parent body.

We are always on the lookout for parents/carers who can help with a variety of activities or to take on a role in the Parent Council. If you are able to come along to meetings, help on a one off basis or offer your services in other ways then all help is welcome.

A number of roles in the Parent Council are available for 2018/2019, details of these are provided below.

Finally, remember the Parent Council AGM takes place on Monday 18th June 2018 at 7pm in the School. ALL parents/carers are welcome to attend and we would be delighted to see you there.

What’s involved…

Communications Coordinator (2 years) Maintain accurate list of contact details for parents/carers. Coordinate Parent Council communications with parents (emails, newsletters, Facebook) across a range of methods to maximise engagement, and aligned with the school communications.

Class Representative (1 year) Main point of contact for parents/carers they represent, and attend meetings (5-6 per year) to represent their views. Share information about meetings (agenda, minutes etc) with parents/carers they represent. Act as a communication route for parents/carers. Coordinate their class stall at the Summer Fair.

Cluster Liaison (2 years) Parent Council representative at Haddington & Lammermuir Area Partnership (HALAP) meetings. Act as a link with the Knox Academy and Cluster Primary Parent Councils.

Events & Fundraising Coordinator (2 years) Coordinate a Fundraising Group of parents/carer helpers. Choose which events the Parent Council run each year in line with Parent Council aims & objectives. Liaise with the school regarding events. Coordinate (or appoint a coordinator) for each event.

Alternatively… Join the Events & Fundraising Group to get involved in organising one or more of our events – we’ll take whatever help you can offer, whenever you can offer it
