Well we only have over a week to go at school and as a fun last day P5 have decided they would like a slumber party. They will be allowed to come into school wearing their favourite pj’s and I will be providing sweets, crisps and popcorn for them as a special treat. If they want to bring in a game or toy that is also allowed.

School Fair
If anyone can spare some time on Saturday between 11.30am and 2pm we need helpers for the summer fair. There will be lots of exciting things going on so bring other friends and family members along to join in the fun!
An interesting start to the day…
Today Logan and Jack brought in some very exciting things to show us – a couple of deer skulls! We all got to look at them and carefully handled them. We had a long discussion about the skulls and then drew pictures of them. We looked on the internet to find out more interesting facts about them and really enjoyed seeing these items up close.
Thank you Logan and Jack!
Problem Solving
This afternoon we worked in groups of 3 or 4 and our task was to make a tower as high as we could using jelly babies and spaghetti. We had 40 minutes and we had to make sure our tower could stand on its own at the end of the time. We had great fun doing this activity and there was great excitement at the end when we got to dismantle the towers!

Writing in P5
As part of our work towards the John Muir Award we have been busy writing leaflets about his life. We started off by looking at examples of leaflets and discussing what features each had. We then got a template which we filled in with our own ideas and since then we have been very busy working in pairs to produce our own handwritten leaflet.

John Muir Picnic
On Tuesday morning we had a picnic in our playground to celebrate John Muir’s 177th birthday. We all enjoyed being out in the glorious weather eating our snacks and we had a fun competition where we had to design a John Muir style biscuit! It was great fun and the pupils all concentrated really hard on their designs. We had ladybirds, ducks, trees, hills, sunsets and even some pictures of John Muir himself!
