We have been using the ‘Hornet’ resource to improve our spelling.
I can read and write words with ‘ng’.

The P2/3 and P3/4 sounds group have been using games to consolidate their work on consonant blends. In ‘paperchains’ you start with the arrow card and if you get a tick when you turn over the last picture card you know you must have them all correct.
Well done 🙂

We have been having great fun in P2/3 writing instructions.

Our first instruction was 'wash your hands'.
1. First wash your hands and some fruit.
2. Next put a pancake on a plate.

3. Then make a face with the fruit on your pancake.
4. Finally eat the pancake and fruit.

The best part was when we got to eat them at the end 🙂

We are working hard on spelling. Using the ‘chunking’ game I was able to make 15 real words in one turn of the sandtimer. Next week I aim to make even more…….

The sounds group often use highlighters to make the consonant blends stand out. This makes reading and writing the words easier.

The P1/2 and P2/3 handwriting group are making great progress. They have been working on drawing circles following the direction of an arrow so that the ability to vary direction is developed. This week we also had to draw our circles inside and outside a square. This is tricky but shows that we are able to differentiate between the various shapes

Smooth circles
.

Great circles

This week we used the ‘Easi-speak’ microphone to record our reading. The Learning Intention was to read fluently. It’s sometimes difficult to know how fluently you are reading yourself. We recorded our reading and saved it on the computer so that we can compare it as our reading progresses.

Fluent reading out loud.
The sounds group working on words with ‘magic e’ love playing games to consolidate their learning. Bingo and cards are two of their favourites.
