Trumberbone Street Band Success!

The young people of East Lothian’s Trumberbone Street Band came together once again this Feb to play in their very own samba band.

This project has been running for a few years now, and is going from strength to strength. The young people get the opportunity to learn trumpet and/or trombone as well as getting to play some cool grooves on the drums.

They were lucky enough to have a visit from DeLighters Circus Company as well, and took part in a workshop. See below for some photos of this fabulous three day course.

YMI Celebrates 20 Years

This year YMI celebrates twenty years of delivering creative music projects to young people across Scotland, continuing to fulfil the YMI Scottish Government commitment that every school pupil in Scotland should be offered a year of free music tuition by the time they leave primary school.

The NYCoS singing groups meet weekly from October through to March and are open to all East Lothian P3-7 pupils. The singing group sessions are led by trained NYCos Staff and boast a wide variety of games, opportunities to sing and gain practical musical skills. All sessions are free to attend and are not limited by a selection process.

O Duo at the Brunton!

O Duo at the Brunton!

dsc_0054On Tuesday 1st February 2018, Musicians Owen Gunnell and Oliver Cox led a group of enthusiastic East Lothian Primary School pupils to form a brilliant percussion group at the Brunton in Musselburgh. Pupils from Aberlady, Ormiston, macmerry, Gullane, St Martin’s & Whitecraig Primary Schools performed on stage for their fellow pupils, parents and the public.

A successful event, shaped by the hard work, energy and enthusiasm of these young, eager pupils!

Well done to the pupils and O Duo for their outstanding performances and efforts!
